We are so thrilled to share the release of the new documentary, The Librarians, featuring one of our WGI mentors and several of our writers from our workshops with the American Library Association!
The film is directed by Kim A. Snyder and produced by Sarah Jessica Parker. It showcases how librarians unite to combat book banning, defending intellectual freedom on democracy’s frontlines amid unprecedented censorship in Texas, Florida, and beyond.
WGI Mentor Amanda Jones appears in the film to share her experience, and she is also the author of That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America.
Some WGI Writers from our partnership with ALA are also featured in the film: Martha Hickson, Julie Miller, and Marie Masferrer. We are proud of the amazing work these librarians do to protect our access to books!
The film is currently screening in NYC and LA, along with other theaters across the country. Click here to find the other venues that are screening the film!
